No one could have guessed that the Beach Boys would make it 50 years, not even founding member, Brian Wilson. “If they’d told me back in the ‘60s that we’d be doing this in 2012 I would’ve said, ‘You’re crazy,’” Wilson said in a statement.
Brian Wilson tips us off about what’s to come, if he has his way: Another new Beach Boys album that “gets the rock’n’roll going,” more tour dates, no more Grammy hullabaloo, and possibly even a Frank Sinatra tribute album.
An Endless Summer may not be in store for the reunited Beach Boys. Amidst hopeful talk of adding tour dates and recording another album comes a report that frontman Mike Love has scheduled his own “Beach Boys” tour dates this October.
Surfers, sunshine and sexy girls – that’s the trifecta of fun presented by the Beach Boys in their new video for “That’s Why God Made The Radio.” It’s not until the last minute of the video that the band actually makes an appearance, at which point its members high-five hip, beachy fans. This week, The Beach Boys returned to the Billboard 200 album chart with their highest debut ever, for their new album That’s Why God Made The Radio. The album came in at No. 3 and sold 61,000 copies in its debut week – enough to make it their highest-charting album since their greatest hits compilation, Endless Summer, reached No. 1 in 1974.
