Instead of doing an album of duets, on “Shout!,” Gov’t Mule took a novel approach, removing Warren Haynes’ vocals from the record and replacing them with an all-star cast of singers like Dr. John, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Dave Matthews, Steve Winwood and Elvis Costello.
All My Friends: Celebrating the Songs & Voice of Gregg Allman” will feature a lineup of major stars paying tribute to the Allman Brothers Band’s leader.
The 25th installment of Haynes’ Christmas concert, taking place December 13 and 14 at the US Cellular Center in Asheville, North Carolina, will feature Michael Franti, Haynes’ own band Gov’t Mule, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, OAR, the Phil Lesh Quintet and the John Scofield Uberjam Band, among others.
Eric Clapton’s 2013 Crossroads Guitar Festival will see a Blu-Ray, DVD & CD release November 19. Held on April 12-13 at Madison Square Garden, the festival featured several masters of the six-string including Keith Richards, John Mayer, B.B. King, Robbie Robertson, Jeff Beck, and Clapton.

One of the biggest jam band festivals of the summer kicked off yesterday. Mountain Jam, held at Hunter Mountain in New York, is curated by guitarist/singer Warren Haynes, who is front man of Gov’t Mule, a member of the Allman Brothers Band, and a solo artist.
“The Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration” kicks off June 18 in Pittsburgh, where Haynes will be joined by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
