Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and the famously mustachioed half of Hall & Oates, John Oates, has a brand new Christmas single and collaboration with Nashville swing band The Time Jumpers, “Santa Be Good To Me.”
The new single, released this past October, is available now at all major online retailers as well as John’s official website where he’s offering up a limited edition vinyl version with an option to buy an signed copy. The limited edition, green, holiday themed vinyl also includes the song “Children Go Where I Send Thee” as a b-side.
When asked about the inspiration behind the song, Oates says, “So much has been said when it comes to holiday songs, there is a very narrow frame of references that work in this genre. I’ve always wanted to write and record a swing style song. It reminds me of the music that my folks listened to when I was a young kid. I penned the original version of ‘Santa Be Good To Me’ with Josh Charles, Steven Davis and Alissa Moreno. We tried to write a contemporary lyric talking about trying to find love and companionship in a modern world and still not lose the holiday spirit.”
With the holidays just around the corner, and John in obvious Christmas spirit, we thought this was a great time to ask him what his personal favorite holiday songs were and to tell us a little bit about why he chose the tracks he did.
