Neil Diamond on New Christmas Music: ‘This is a special album’

Neil Diamond has been there and done that in the music world. That includes taking part in the most commercially successful time of the year: Christmas. Diamond has several under his belt and added to that number when he released Acoustic Christmas.

Diamond spoke with Scott Shannon this morning and detailed why this one will be different from the rest.

“This is a special album. I’ve done a few Christmas albums before; I’m just addicted to the music. I love it and I’ll sing it at the drop of a hat,” says Diamond. “This one is kind of special. It’s very intimate.”

“I have a few top notch musicians playing with me but they’re all playing acoustic instruments and it shows. You hear it. It’s different,” he adds.

Diamond will be in attendance for the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony tomorrow night (November 30) for a live performance, despite the weather forecast.

“It should be very interesting because it’s going to rain tomorrow night… I’m game,” says Diamond. I’m going to be up there singing… I don’t care what it is. I’m going to bring my umbrella no matter what.”
