The tributes to David Bowie continue to roll out months after his death. The latest comes in an unlikely form: not a cover song, tribute show, or re-issue of his music, but by putting his likeness into the hands of millions across the world.
David Bowie is getting his own set of emoji.
As noted by Rolling Stone, the “singer” emoji is one of 16 new professions being added to Apple’s ever-growing library of personalized electronic expressions with its upcoming iOS 10.2 update. The emoji will come as both a male and female and feature the classic lightning bolt painted across one eye and a microphone.
Bowie passed away after a long battle with cancer, which was kept secret until his passing. Days before his death, Bowie released his twenty-fifth and final studio album Blackstar. It was his first album to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 in the US.
