The energy and excitement surrounding the 2016 presidential election certainly can not be understated — both sides of the political fence are, shall we say, emphatic about their contender and the nominees are feverishly trying to keep the momentum that they have with their base going strong.
One way politicians like to “connect” with their constituents is with music. And while some artists and groups are just fine with a nominee using their songs, others are wholeheartedly against it. Especially when they weren’t asked permission.
Below you can browse through and listen to a playlist created by the Clinton campaign, obviously catered to a younger generation with tracks from Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, American Authors, Pharrell and more, with a sprinkling of Bon Jovi and Mary J. Blige for the old-school Hillary supporters.
And the Washington Post has put together a playlist of some of the classic songs (approved by the artist or not) that Donald Trump has used during his campaign rallies to date, including Twisted Sister, the Rolling Stones, Survivor, The Beatles, and Elton John just to name a few. You won’t find any Gym Class Heroes here, folks.
SO… we’d like to hear from you! Based solely on the playlists above, who do you think you would get behind if the election was just about good party atmosphere and not about the future of our country?
