Poison Drummer Rikki Rockett: ‘I am cancer free!!!’

Despite being part of one of the more popular and successful bands from the 1980s and early 90s, filled with milestones and memories, Poison drummer Rikki Rockett received, most likely, the greatest news of his life: he’s cancer-free.

Rockett posted a photo with Dr. Cohen, M.D., professor of medicine and associate director for Translational Science at Moores Cancer Center of UC San Diego Health, to Instagram with the message, “Because of this man, I am cancer free!!!”

Rockett was diagnosed with oral cancer more than a year ago and chose to undergo experimental cancer immunotherapy with Dr. Cohen.

“We are delighted that Rikki responded so well to immunotherapy,” Dr. Cohen told Billboard. “He had already been through a lot with chemotherapy and radiation treatment before he came to us, but his cancer recurred.”

Both Rockett and Dr. Cohen hope word spreads about the new cancer treatment.

“My hope going forward is that by talking to other cancer patients, I might be able to lessen their pain and suffering,” said Rockett. “I know from experience that chemotherapy and radiation are not fun. If I can help anyone else, it would help give reason to what I went through.”

“Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health” Thank You!!!
