Jim Breuer Explains The Unique Recording Process of AC/DC’s Brian Johnson

Jim Breuer‘s passions include comedy, the New York Mets, and heavy metal. Much of his comedy is tied into his love of the genre and will be part of an upcoming tour that will fuse punchlines and riffs in support of his debut LP Songs From The Garage.

Despite stoking the flames surrounding Brian Johnson‘s departure from AC/DC, Breuer was able to secure the rocker from Down Under on a few tracks, including “Mr. Rock n Roll.” In preparation, Breuer pulled out all the stops, stocking up on microphones and the finest Kraft services; all of which became unnecessary once Johnson stepped in Breuer’s “board room.”

“I don’t sing in the studio, I record in the ‘board room,'” says Breuer in his best Johnson voice, incorrectly quoting “control room” with “board room.” “I listen to the speakers, I need a handheld microphone, and I don’t want any headphones; that’s cheatin’ me son. I like to sing like I’m in concert with the boys.”

“He’s sweating, dancing,” continues Breuer. “His part of my song took him a half hour; took me four days.”
