Amazon’s SVOD (subscription video on demand) programming could be expanding to include a drama series inspired by the vast music catalog of Bob Dylan.
Tentatively titled Time Out of Mind, the hourlong series named after Dylan’s 1997 album will revolve around themes and characters detailed in the songwriter’s celebrated tome, culminating in the characters arcs eventually intertwining.
The project, Variety reports, will be headed by writer-director Josh Wakely, who secured the rights to Dylan’s music catalog, and produced through his Sydney-based Grace productions. Wakely already has a deal to produce a animated children’s series for Netflix influenced by music from The Beatles called Beat Bugs. The series, coming this Summer, will include covers from Eddie Vedder, Pink, Sia, and others.
This is the second music-themed series scheduled for production by Amazon; Grateful Dead founding member Bob Weir has been tabbed as an executive producer and will oversee the music for a bio-series based on former roadie Steve Parish’s memoir, Home Before Daylight.
