Hey, Buckaroos! I recently went along to the Paley Center to celebrate the success of the CBS show, Person of Interest – now approaching the end of it’s fourth season and it doesn’t look like it’ll be slowing down any time soon.
The star of the show is Jim Caviezel. He plays ‘Reese,’ an ex-CIA operative who can take anyone down with his bare hands. As he saddled up to me to begin the interview I blurted out a few words. Quickly recognizing that I was Australian, he went on to tell me how he got punched in the nose there when he was a young actor.
In the late 90’s Jim was filming the ensemble war movie, The Thin Red Line in far north Queensland. One night, having a few beers at the local pub, Jim got chatting to a guy about American football. Jim recounts, “We were talking about football and gridiron and how we were a whole bunch of pansies with their helmets on and then they said something about ‘Do you want to have a go?”
Confused by this phrase Jim said, “Yes.” That’s when the guy broke Jim’s nose.
‘Finch,’ the man who controls the other star of the show, ‘The Machine,’ is Michael Emmerson. Emmerson used to scare me a lot as Ben Linus on LOST, so I proceed in this interview to compare Finch to Linus.
This opens a whole can of worms where he starts defending the LOST finale.
“One of the more popular questions is, ‘what the hell happened at the end of the show?’” Emmerson told me. I proceeded to tell him that his acting gave me nightmares, where he replied, “Im glad I got inside your brain”.
Be sure to check out Person Of Interest, Tuesdays at 10/9C on CBS!
