Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio stopped by the big show to chat with the crew about the highly anticipated 2015 Victoria’s Secret Swim Special, airing Thursday night at 10PM on CBS.

If you’re still reading this, Alessandra was born in Brazil and grew up there until the age of 17, when she made the move to New York City to follow her dreams of being a top model.
Since the age of 15, Alessandra has been strutting her stuff on the catwalk, modeling for brands such as Next, Armani Exchange, Christian Dior, and Ralph Lauren — and has appeared in numerous magazines including Cosmo, Elle, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire and Vogue — just to name a few. But it’s not all glitz and glamour for Ambrosio. She also serves as an ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
These days she playing the role of mom to two children, a boy and girl. Alessandra explained the ways having kids has changed her for the better, first allowing her to move out of NYC and head for the warm and wondrous California life.
“I could definitely wear a swimsuit every day there,” she laughed. Not that she does, though. That would be a bit much. But she is happier living in the sun — as it reminds her of her home country’s climate — especially given the winter we’ve had in New York this year.
But it’s the energy of the Big Apple she misses most. “I’m from Brazil, I like the warm weather,” she admits. “But it’s OK. I’m only here for ten hours,” Alessandra joked. “It’s fun! I can play in the snow, then go back!”
The big watercooler topic of discussion this week is obviously the Victoria’s Secret Swim Special, so Scott and the crew decided to get a little behind the scenes info out of Alessandra.
“We were in Puerto Rico shooting for a few days,” Alessandra explains about the shoot. “It’s so beautiful there. We went to these beautiful little islands around Puerto Rico. It was gorgeous. Waterfalls, we did underwater shoots; we had a performance by Maroon 5 and Juanes. So there’s a lot going on on the swim special on TV.”
Speaking of there being a lot going on in the special, back to those underwater shoots. Was there a particular fear that Alessandra had to face while on location?
“I’m kind of brave,” she says. “I was the one designated to go underwater, and of course when you are there and have no tubes or anything, you are just by yourself. I was actually afraid that maybe the photographer was going to do something with me. You know, like play a trick on me.”
