Could Colin Firth Ever Take Liam Neeson in a Fight? Brad Blanks Finds Out!

Colin Firth won an Oscar a few years ago for his stuttering turn as the King of England in The King’s Speech. This week he is having a crack at playing an action hero in the spy movie, Kingsman.

Most of Colin’s roles have been English sex symbols, where he famously set ladies’ hearts a flutter when he came out of a fountain in a mini-series called Pride and Prejudice.

Now they get to see this gentle romantic kick some serious ass.

During a bustling red carpet event in NYC, Brad wanted to break down what this master spy guy is like and if Colin would ever do a movie where he would go head-to-head with fellow well-spoken thespian Liam Neeson.

“You don’t really know [what he’s like], I think it’s a mystery,” Firth says about his character in the film. “I think one of the things I like about this character is we don’t try to explain too much — We don’t know anything about his childhood, we don’t know if he’s married or was ever married, we don’t even know if he’s straight, ” Firth elaborated. “He’s not that serious. This is a man whose got a strong sense of irony — he’s got some of the best lines. He’s implacable, he’s hard to read — he talks about good manners and then he goes berserk!”

But the burning question in Brad’s brain the entire event was whether or not we would be seeing more of Colin the action hero, and if he can see himself going head-to-head with Taken star Liam Neeson.

“I don’t know — if he throws down the challenge,” Firth joked about a possible bout with Neeson, but admitted that Kingsman “is the audition” for other possible action roles. And if the action-packed trailer for Kingsman is any indication — he DEFINITELY passed.

Check out the trailer for Kingsman below:

Hey… Brad was only allowed one question, but at least it was a good one. Unlike that time on the red carpet with Bruce Willis… amirite?

Sheesh!
