Checking in on the Big Show Star Phone this morning is a guy who’s sold over 100 million records – ladies and gentlemen, Tommy James!
Good news, fans… James is heading back into the studio early next year to record an all acoustic album with some special guests!
“I’m gonna do something that I’ve never done before, and that’s record an ‘unplugged’ album,” says James. “We’ve had so many requests over the years to do this stuff acoustically,” James explained. “Of course, I’ve never considered myself a ‘troubadour’ exactly,” he says jokingly about himself.
“I think we’re going to call the album ‘Acoustatronics’ – we’re gonna make up a new word – and we’re going to use acoustic guitars where we would normally use electric ones, and acoustic instruments of all kinds. And we’re going to have a lot of good guests on the album – it’s gonna be fun!”
Also coming up in the near future, Tommy will be headlining the “Hot Autumn Nights” show this Saturday night (Nov. 22) at the NYCB Theater at Westbury along with Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits, The Buckinghams and what’s left of the Grass Roots – and it’s all hosted by WCBS-FM’s Scott Shannon. You can purchase tickets at Ticketmaster.com.
So, what should we be expecting at the “Hot Autumn Nights” concert this Saturday night? Since he’ll have his full band with him on stage, as well as a few special guests, James predicts it will be an epic night.
“We’re going to have guests on the show that I don’t play with all that much,” admits James.
“We’re gonna have as much fun backstage as we do on stage!”
