The most heartwarming “promposal” of 2014 might have just happened at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
The entire prom process is gut-wrenching. Girls are thrown into a frenzy over which boy will ask her and what dress she will wear while boys have to muster up the teenage equivalent of asking a person to marry them. For Danielle Clayton, she knew exactly who she wanted to go with, but wasn’t sure he would ask, so she decided to be proactive and use the help of her school.
The boy is J.D. Kus, a friend of Clayton’s through all four years of high school. Clayton has also been Kus’ mentor during that time; he is a student with Down syndrome.
Coincidentally, Kus had planned on asking her that same day. But now the two have nothing to worry about and can look forward to prom on May 20th.
“It should be a great party. I’ll wear a nice big suit,” Kus told CTV, adding, “She’ll match.”
The video, originally posted on Clayton’s Facebook page, has 1,478 shares and 189 ‘likes’ at the time of posting.
