If you ever dreamed about freely running around the streets of Manhattan with no care in the world, the next few weekends are for you!
Summer Streets is back for three straight Saturdays! Seven miles of streets in Manhattan are opened up for everyone to play, run, walk and bike!
It runs from 7am to 1pm and extends from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, running along Park Avenue and most of it’s connecting streets.
All activities at Summer Streets are free and designed for people of all ages and ability levels, and this year “The Voice Tunnel” is the signature event of Summer Streets 2013!
It’s a fun and historic event, opening the Park Avenue Tunnel to pedestrians for the first time ever! You get free access at the 33rd Street entrance all the way through 40th street!
Some more info on the Voice Tunnel:
- It’s an interactive light and sound show with 360 spotlights along the tunnel’s walls and ceiling!
- YOU change the power of each light by speaking into a special intercom at center of the tunnel, which records your voice and loops it!
- The louder you talk, the brighter the lights, which creates flashes throughout the tunnel.
- The voices will be heard through the tunnel on 180 loudspeakers, one beside each light arch and synchronized with it.
