“HAPPY HUGS!” – Spencer Platt/Getty Images
November 6, 2012 was a memorial day for the United States of America, regardless of where your political views lie. You either believe America will continue on a road toward prosperity or take us speeding down a highway to hell.
Regardless, this is not the place for us to share those thoughts.
President Barack Obama addressed his entire campaign team following his victory over Mitt Romney and half way through it, the POTUS broke down a little bit. His emotions got the best of him. The man choked up and a few tears ran down his face. You can watch his entire speech here, but this GIF will give you an idea:

This got us thinking: what are some great songs that make you cry for a good reason? Here are a few that we’ve dubbed the “Emotional Obama Playlist.”
“Maybe I’m Amazed”

“Maybe I’m amazed at the way
You help me sing my song
You right me when I’m wrong
Maybe I’m amazed at the way
I really need you”
Dedicated to the love of his life, Linda, Paul McCartney was able to relay the message all men have when they find the woman they want to spend the rest of their life with. This is what it sounds like when you find your better half.
It’s OK to shed a tear, guys. She’s cool with it. Happy tears are good tears.
“True Colors”

“But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that’s why I love you”
Nobody is perfect. We know that. You know that. Cyndi Lauper knows that. But we love you anyway. And that makes you happy.
“You Are The Sunshine Of My Life”

“You are the sunshine of my life
That’s why I’ll always be around,
You are the apple of my eye,
Forever you’ll stay in my heart”
Other happy metaphors Stevie Wonder has for you:
“You’re the cat’s pajamas.”
“You’re the bees knees.”
“We Are The Champions”

“We are the champions, my friends
And we’ll keep on fighting, till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
‘Cause we are the champions, of the world”
Why is it OK to cry to Queen‘s “We Are The Champions”? Because you’re the best. Michael Jordan cried when he won an NBA championship. You can do the same in your softball league.
“I Can See Clearly Now”

“I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day”
It just feels good knowing you made it through the tough times. You let out a sigh of relief, put a smile on your face and shed a tear because damn it, YOU DID IT!
Thanks for putting it into song, Johnny Nash.
“Stand By Me”

“When the night has come and the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we see
No, I won’t be afraid, oh, I won’t be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me”
Ever see the movie Stand By Me? Do you have best friends like that? That’s what we thought. Put on this Ben E. King classic, give your best buddy a hug and let it out. They’ll understand.
What songs can you think of that make you cry in the best of ways? Tell us in the comments section below!
