A new technique to convert DVDs into smartphone apps has been created, and first on the development company’s list is David Gilmour In Concert, featuring Gilmour’s concert at London’s Royal Festival Hall in 2001.

Set to be released on Monday, November 19th, the app will initially only be available on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch for $8.99. An Android version will follow. The app will work just like its source DVD with menu navigation options, bonus extras, along with the video and audio material.

Filmed mostly in HD, songs included in the concert are “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1-5),” “Wish You Were Here,” “Comfortably Numb (featuring Robert Wyatt),” “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 6-8),” “Breakthrough” (featuring Richard Wright), and “Comfortably Numb” (featuring Bob Geldof), among others. Extras include Spare Digits (closeups of David’s guitar parts), Home Movie (shot at rehearsals), “I Put A Spell On You” (with Jools Holland and Mica Paris) and more.

Pink Floyd fans also have access to to the This Day in Pink Floyd app. This app, which has been available for iPad, iPhone, and iTouch for nearly a year, features facts, trivia, restored video and more.

Another Pink Floyd alum, Roger Waters, is also keeping busy. He has just finished writing a new (and currently untitled) song, and is focused on delivering a new album tentatively titled Heartland. He has no timeline for its recording.

“The Heartland idea sort of came from another song I wrote maybe 15 years ago, or longer even, which was a song that I wrote for a movie – a really, really bad movie called Michael that was about an angel,” Waters told Rolling Stone. “I’m absolutely determined to make another album. And I think this new song may give me the chance to do that. It provides a cornerstone and a core idea for me to write a new album about. You know, it’s just one of my obsessions, which is, I’m sort of obsessed with the idea that religious extremism is a maligned factor in most of our lives.”

Waters also joined French chef and former Top Chef judge Eric Ripert to exchange guitar lessons for cooking lessons, talk politics and religion, and enjoy some shrimp tacos. During the episode of Ripert’s online TV series On the Table, Waters discussed his upbringing in a communist home, the importance of the now decided American presidential election, the financial divide in the U.S., and how he sees religion while being a self-proclaimed “radical atheist”. On Thursday (November 8), Roger Waters will take the stage at the Stand Up for Heroes benefit at the Beacon Theatre in New York alongside Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer and eight wounded soldiers from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
