Stevie Wonder will take his United Nations Messenger of Peace position to the next level, leading an all-star concert at UN headquarters in New York. In celebration of the 67th anniversary of the UN’s founding, Wonder and famous pals including Sting and Paul Simon will perform this Wednesday (Oct. 24).
In addition to Wonder, Sting and Simon, R&B/hip-hop stars Wyclef Jean, Elle Varner and BeBe Winans will perform, with more “international artists” to be announced. Celebrities including Susan Sarandon, Malcolm-Jamal Warner (best known as Theo Huxtable from The Cosby Show) and Michael Bivins (of New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe) will also make appearances amidst the performances.
While the concert is not open to the public, it will be streamed live online on the UN’s website starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, lasting approximately two hours. The show will also be broadcast in the new year, airing February 23, 2012 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on both BET and Centric.
