Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, the founding members of Led Zeppelin, were all on hand in London on Friday for a press conference marking the release of Celebration Day, a concert film documenting the band’s 2007 two-hour reunion show, their first headline concert in 27 years, at London’s O2 Arena. The blistering set saw the trio, along with late drummer John Bonham’s son Jason Bonham behind the kit, performing 16 of their classic hits to 18,000 fans that scored passes through a worldwide lottery. On October 17^th Celebration Day will be shown on 1,500 screens in over 40 territories across the globe and will later be released on multiple audio and video formats on November 19^th. Plant, Page and Jones were in jovial moods as they arrived at the elaborate press event and began to accept questions from journalists around the world about their historic 2007 concert. Singer Robert Plant described the night as a “spectacular experience” that was “nothing short of a miracle,” while guitarist Jimmy Page said they “had a really good time that night and made a lot of people happy.” When asked about having John Bonham’s son Jason on drums, Plant says, “nobody else could have done it” and said that they realized they had great chemistry when they played together at Jason’s wedding back in 1990. Robert went on to say that Bonham “drove them” during their 2007 rehearsal sessions. So why did they wait five years to release Celebration Day? Bass player John Paul Jones jokes, “Five years is like five minutes in Led Zeppelin time.”

But of course the big question on everyone’s mind was will we be seeing them playing together on stage again. When asked, Page deflected the mention of touring again by turning on the press asking, “Did you all see the film? Did you enjoy it?” His cheeky response received huge claps from the crowd who were dying to get the scoop on upcoming touring plans. The band was again asked by a female reporter “Will you do it again?” to which Plant barked back, “With you?”

When asked what current bands excite them singer Robert Plant praised UK folk-rock outfit Mumford & Sons saying, “I think Mumford and Sons excite me because they do have drama and they do have optimism…They can turn a crowd upside down.”

In other Led Zeppelin news, the band has been selected as one of the recipients of the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors and will receive the Honors at the annual gala on December 2 in Washington, DC.
