Blue Öyster Cult are celebrating their big four-0 with a bang big enough to take down Godzilla. The Long Island born and bred psychedelic rockers will commemorate the 40th anniversary of their eponymous 1972 release with a box set for the ages.
Blue Öyster Cult – The Columbia Albums Collection will feature 16 discs, comprising the band’s entire 14 album discography, plus rarities and the Some OTHER Enchanted Evening DVD, which showcases a BÖC concert recording from 1978. Additionally, the Blue Öyster Cult – The Columbia Albums Collection box set includes a special download code for four live broadcasts and a 40 page booklet loaded with photos and liner notes from Lenny Kaye. Blue Öyster Cult – The Columbia Albums Collection will be available on October 30.
The celebration doesn’t end there. Blue Öyster Cult will be in New York City at the Best Buy Theater on Sunday, October 28 for a show full of special guests and surprises. VIP packages will be available, which will include advance copies of Blue Öyster Cult – The Columbia Albums Collection, a pre-show meet and greet with the band, a limited edition poster signed by BÖC, an exclusive commemorative laminate and a guaranteed seat in the first five rows. Tickets for the event go on sale to the general public on Friday, August 17 at 12 pm ET and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
