The crowd started rolling into Eisenhower Park as early as 10am to see KC and the Sunshine Band at CBS-FM’s Saturday in the Park this past weekend. That proved to be a smart move, as anyone arriving closer to showtime looking to “get down tonight” was turned away by local police.

Every inch of the field at Eisenhower Park was lined with blankets and lawn chairs, occupied by fans of all ages who enjoyed some fun in the sun while “Broadway” Bill Lee and “Brooklyn’s Own” Joe Causi broadcasted live right next to the stage. “Rockin’” Ron Parker joined them, signing autographs for loyal listeners who crowded the booth.

When the sun went down, it was time for KC and the Sunshine Band to take the stage and put an exclamation point on CBS-FM’s 40th Anniversary celebration. KC opened the show with two of his most dance worthy hits, “Shake Your Booty” and “Boogie Shoes.” After a few select ballads, the show picked back up before KC brought his one hour and 45-minute set to a thunderous end with “That’s the Way (I Like It)” and “Get Down Tonight.”

Saturday in the Park setlist:

  • “Shake Your Booty”
  • “Boogie Shoes”
  • “Yes, I’m Ready”
  • “Let’s Just Kiss And Say Goodbye”
  • “Please Don’t Go”
  • “I Hear A Symphony”
  • “I’m Your Boogie Man”
  • “Keep It Comin’ Love”
  • “Rock Your Baby”
  • “It’s The Same Old Song”
  • “Stand By Me”
  • “Give It Up”
  • “That’s the Way (I Like It)”
  • “Get Down Tonight.”
