A 17-song tribute album dedicated to the career of Fleetwood Mac will be released on August 14th. Titled Just Tell Me That You Want Me: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac, the album features several indie rock artists like Best Coast and New York natives The Kills, as well as classic rockers such as Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and Marianne Faithfull.
Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li covers Fleetwood Mac’s “Silver Springs” on the album, which you can listen to below:
“Silver Springs” was originally intended to appear on the album Rumours, but instead became a B-side to the album’s first single “Go Your Own Way.” Reportedly inspired by Nicks’ heartbreaking end to her relationship with bandmate Lindsey Buckingham, “Silver Springs” finally made it onto the 1992 box set 25 Years – The Chain.
The song would also earn Nicks a GRAMMY Award nomination for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance in 1997 as a part of the band’s reunion album The Dance.
