Jack Osbourne, son of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
The one-time reality-TV star received the news of his condition just two weeks after the birth of his first child, Pearl Clementine, whom he had with fiance Lisa Stelly.
According to an interview with People magazine, the famed 26-year old feels the anguish of so many young people who are diagnosed with the disease. “I was just angry and frustrated and kept thinking, ‘Why now?’” Osborne. “I’ve got a family and that’s what’s supposed to be the most important thing.”
The disease, which generally begins taking its toll on people when they are young adults, affects the brain and spinal chord. There is not yet a cure for MS, which can produce symptoms ranging from mild vision and balance issues to more serious disabilties like paralysis.
Osbourne became internationally famous in 2002 through the MTV reality series, The Osbournes, which followed the lives of his heavy metal singing Dad and his family. In more recent years, Osbourne produced the documentary about his Dad, God Bless Ozzy Osbourne and is exec producing a show on the Nat Geo Wild channel, Alpha Dogs.
As Osbourne’s last tweet thanks fans for their support, he seems to be in good spirits. His more recent posts have focused on what it’s like to be a new Dad (including ruminations on the taste of breast milk and the volume of baby farts).
