Glenn Frey has made a career as a road warrior. Whether it be with the Eagles or as a solo artists, he has constantly been playing shows across the country for the better part of four decades. But according to the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, now might be the first time in quite a while that he can justify doing it.

“I finally have, what I consider, a legitimate reason to go out and play,” Frey tells Ron Parker, referring to his new record. Due out on May 8th, After Hours will be a collection of classic love songs that spans generations.

“Part of this record is filled with songs that were out when my parents were growing up. The other part of this record are songs that were out when I was growing up,” says Frey. “This collection of love songs, it’s age appropriate music for me.”

Frey enjoyed heading into the studio everyday while working on After Hours and hopes fans will feel the same way about his new record. Everything on the album was played on the radio and should be familiar to them. The millions of Eagles fans just need to give it a listen.

“I feel so good about this record,” says Frey. “If even a smidgen of them were to pick up this album and put it on, I think they would be in for a real surprise.”

Frey will perform his new record for the folks in New York City on May 9th when he plays at Town Hall. As much as he enjoys touring with the Eagles, he admits it is a nice change of pace to hit the road as a solo artist.

“I like the work I do with the Eagles. I enjoy being in a band,” he says. “It’s also nice to go out and do my own thing as well.”

Fans will of course be treated to more than just cuts from After Hours. Frey knows what fans pay ticket prices for, and that is to hear their favorite hits from the Eagles.

“We’ve figured out ways to put strings on a couple of the familiar songs.”

Frey will play New York City’s Town Hall on May 9th, as well as other shows along the East coast this month.
