Not only will fans be treated to a digitally remastered DVD and Blu-Ray release of The Beatles’ 1968 psychedelic movie Yellow Submarine on June 5th, but a special screening of the film is hitting limited theaters around the country.
Starting May 10th, fans can relive the fantastic animated journey aboard the Yellow Submarine as is dives into a select theater near you!
Known for its groundbreaking animation, The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine also introduced the world to some of the group’s most well-known hits including “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds,” “All You Need Is Love,” “It’s All Too Much,” and the title track, “Yellow Submarine.”
The film has been digitally remastered for the first time since its last DVD release years ago. It took technicians over four months to clean each frame by hand to restore the film to its original luster for this DVD/Blu-Ray re-release and theater screening.
The film, directed by George Dunning, features The Beatles’ in animated form as they voyage in their Yellow Submarine to combat the evil forces of the “Blue Meanies” with nothing more than music and good humor. Though their real voices aren’t used for the characters in the film, John, Paul, George and Ringo make a special cameo at the end.
