Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder announced yesterday (April 5) that due to an injury, he will be postponing a 15-city, 22-show U.S. solo tour scheduled to kick off in just a few days (April 10). Vedder is ailing from temporary nerve damage in his right arm — the result of a back injury sustained earlier in 2012.

On Pearl Jam’s official website, manager Kelly Curtis explains: “After having worked aggressively with doctors and physical therapists for the last eight weeks to repair the damage, the intensity of the injury and time needed to heal has made it impossible to play the shows as scheduled. There was hope up until the last minute that the treatments would be successful. Sincerest apologies go out to those who have made plans and bought tickets. Eddie is frustrated beyond measure, but remains positive that come this summer all will be back in good form.”
The tour’s kickoff was slated originally for April 10th and 11th shows at The Pearl in Las Vegas, with 22 shows scheduled across the South through May 17. Now, dates have been rescheduled for a Halloween kickoff, running through December 4 in a revised order. Tickets for the original dates will be honored at the rescheduled shows; refunds made by request. Folksy singer-songwriter Glen Hansard (of the Swell Season) will open all dates.
Only one show — Vedder’s May 3rd appearance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival — has been outright canceled.
Vedder is touring behind his 2011 solo album, Ukulele Songs, a follow-up to his acclaimed solo work for the 2007 film Into The Wild.
Pearl Jam, however, will kick off a six-country European tour June 20 in Manchester, U.K. The tour, which includes a handful of headlining gigs at European festivals, wraps July 10 in Denmark.
