The 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards are happening Sunday night at 8pm on CBS, so all weekend long in the CBS-FM Hall of Fame we are spotlighting “Trophy Tunes” that took home music’s highest honors from the 60s, 70s, and 80s!
Make the JUMP to hear some of the classic GRAMMY award winning artists you’ll be hearing in the Hall of Fame this weekend!
From the 1960s
The Beatles “Michelle”
“Michelle” won Song of the Year for The Beatles in 1967. It was their fourth GRAMMY win at the time, but they would go on to win thirteen in total out of thirty-one nominations.
From the 1970s
Michael Jackson
“Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough”
Released in 1979, “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” became Michael‘s first GRAMMY as a solo performer at the Awards in 1980. While the one is special, it pales in comparison to 1984 when he won a record eight GRAMMY awards in one night.
From the 1980s
Paul Simon “You Can Call Me Al”
While “You Can Call Me Al” didn’t win a GRAMMY as a single, the album it came from, Graceland, won Paul Simon two. It was awarded Album of the Year in 1987 and Record of the Year in 1988.
