Adam Lambert Clears Up Queen Rumors

Back on February third, we told you that American Idol contestant [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Adam Lambert[/lastfm] was set to take center stage as Queen‘s new lead singer for their Summer tour.

But, according to Mr. Lambert’s Twitter, his words about the EMA’s were taken out of context and created unnecessary buzz about his “new gig.” Nevertheless, both Lambert and Queen fans were effected when Adam himself broke the news that he will indeed NOT be leading the vocals for the tour.

During the finale of the eighth season of American Idol, Adam took the stage with the remaining members of Queen and delivered a flawless performance of their rock hit “We Are the Champions” alongside that season’s winner, Kris Allen.

Queen drummer Roger Taylor even spoke highly of Lambert in an interview with Billboard. “He has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice with a range that’s great. We would like to work with him again. There’s nothing signed just yet but we’re talking about live dates. It could be very exciting.”

Adam Lambert and Queen fans alike know that no one could ever replace original front man Freddie Mercury — his presence, creativity, and vocals are unforgettable. However, Adam stepped up to the rock n’ roll plate and proved that he could easily complete the band’s puzzle. He wowed audiences with his incredible vocals, hitting the notes only Mercury could hit. Lambert also carries a style all his own, sporting eye-liner, eye-shadow and even platform boots — a bit reminiscent of Mercury as well.

[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm], inspired by Queen’s ‘Radio Gaga’ was also a contender for the vacant space.

So now that the air is cleared, is she back in the running? Who’s it going to be?

Oh, you’re welcome Adam!

Now we want to hear from YOU!

George Michael would be good for Queen.
He did a very good job with Somebody To Love in Live Aid.
I’m surprised Queen didnt ask him after that and before Paul Roger.

@Raj Yes, George Michael would be great. I still have the cd of George Michael and Queen at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in 1992. But he has never wanted to front Queen because he has always wanted a solo career – same as Lambert. It’s not a case of Queen not asking him, it’s a case of Michael liking his own solo career just fine. Why is it people always assume he is not fronting Queen simply because they never asked him? It’s quite the opposite.

I’m looking forward to Lambert doing a few guest performances with Queen and still maintaining his own solo career. They were great together at the EMAs….and Lambert’s own tour this year will be hugely successful. The man is incredibly talented.

ADAM LAMBERT IS OK BUT GEORGE MICHAEL WOULD BE A BETTER CHOICE.
