CBS-FM’s all-time favorite band, The Beatles (You know you love them too!), first made it to number one on the charts with their timeless classic “I Want to Hold Your Hand” in 1964. It would be their first, but as we all know, definitely not their last.
The Beatles may have parted ways in 1970, but it was far from the last time they would make it onto the charts.
“Free as a Bird” made its way to number six on the charts in 1995, even though only three members of the Fab Four were still with us.
John Lennon originally composed and recorded the track in 1977 as a home demo. Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr incorporated contributions to the track in 1994 and it was released in December of 1995.
The Beatles won’t be the only artist you’ll hear this weekend, so make sure you tune into the CBS-FM Hall of Fame to hear more First and Last Hits!
But nothing in between.
