Sting Confirms Date for 2012 Rainforest Concert Benefit in New York City

Sting has announced that the date of his benefit concert for the Rainforest Fund will be held on April 4th at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.

The event, known as “Sting and Friends,” is yet to announce additional performers, but artists like James Taylor, Billy Joel, and Elton John have made a number of appearances in the past.

The biennial event raises money for Sting’s foundation the Rainforest Fund. Now in its 23rd year, the organization was founded by the singer and his wife to answer the call for help from the indigenous people of Brazil to help preserve their land and culture.

Tickets are on sale now, costing $2,500 for an individual seat that includes a post-show dinner. Concert-only tickets will cost $600, with other seats being made available in March.
