Apple has seconds to live.
Guitar legend and guitarist for The Who, Pete Townshend, spoke out against Apple and iTunes yesterday, calling them “digital vampires.”
Soooo… Petey must have been a Zune man, I presume.

“Is there really any good reason why, just because iTunes exists in the wild west Internet land of Facebook and Twitter, it can’t provide some aspect of these services to the artists whose work it bleeds like a digital vampire… for its enormous commission?” Townshend said while speaking at the inaugural John Peel lecture in Manchester, England.
In the past, record labels and music publishers offered many services to their artists, including editorial guidance and nurturing them creatively, but now just milk them for all they are worth without giving much back in return. Townshend suggests hiring twenty talent scouts “from the dying record business” to aid up and coming musicians not only creatively, but also offer financial assistance and proper marketing advice that will have their best interest in mind.
That… OR HE’LL SMASH YOU WITH HIS GUITAR!!!
