Former Journey frontman [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Steve Perry[/lastfm] is heading into the studio to record, but it won’t be with his former bandmates, as many would hope. But he has decided to cover one of our favorite bands and include those tracks on his solo album.

That band is The Beatles.

Perry admits that the writing and recording process has been difficult since he has been out of the studio for so long. But he has covered and recorded three Beatles’ songs, though who wouldn’t disclose which ones to the Associated Press. He’s also only played those songs for a few close friends and family members.

Perry did go on to say that regardless of his former band members thoughts, he will never rejoin Journey.

“It’s like any emotional, committed relationship. At some point, they seem to all have a shelf life and bands are no exception,” Perry told AP. “Life has moved us all on in different places in our lives.   They’re doing what they’re doing — they have been since ’98. And I’ve been doing what I’m doing, which is living my life and having a personal life.”
