Mother Nature can be a cruel mistress. As summer comes to a close, she wants to ruin our weekend with rain. And not just any kind of precipitation mind you, we’re talking “cats and dogs.” That side-ways rain from Forrest Gump. A downpour being propelled by gale force winds!!!

Am I getting carried away? Maybe. So let’s have the music do the talkin’ with our Top Five Songs for Hurricane Irene.

Board up the windows and listen to these gems. Unless the power goes out. Which reminds us… go buy a back-up generator.

If you’re like me and completely ignoring the warnings from authorities and going to the beach this weekend, this song is for us. The bigger the waves the better, and we will certainly ride that storm.

Though we will appreciate a rescue team if necessary.
