Are we surprised by this research? Turns out that 13 percent of cell phone users fake being on the phone to avoid getting into a conversation with someone.
In other words, the phone is used as a prop to avoid contact with people they don’t want to interact with! Sound like something you’ve ever done?
The study was conducted by the Pew Research Center on how Americans use their cell phones. Pew’s research says 83 percent of U.S. adults own a cell phone, and when they delved deeper into the survey they found 30% of 18-29 year old surveyed use their phone to avoid contact.
And how bad is our cell phone addiction addiction? Only 29% of people surveyed could switch their phone to off to take a break from using it.
