Darlene Love with Dan Taylor

It was Christmas in July this morning in the CBS-FM studio! Dan had the great idea of calling up and surprising [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Darlene Love[/lastfm] for her 70th birthday!

Darlene was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March and is one of our all-time favorite people to talk to!

Darlene is keeping busy at the age of 70! She was officially inducted into the 2011 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in March and is returning to the stage with Harvey Fierstein to re-create her role as “Motor Mouth” when Hollywood Bowl stages the Broadway hit “Hairspray” in early August.

Joining them in the cast will be Drew Carey, John Stamos and Nick Jonas!

Darlene will be making her 25th appearance on David Letterman this year singing “(Christmas Baby) Please Come Home” and you can be sure we will have her in studio for her annual Christmastime interview.

Darlene was dear friends with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Clarence Clemons[/lastfm] and has some wonderful memories with him.

Her fondest memory was when she performed the “All Alone on Christmas” music video with Clarence and the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]E Street Band[/lastfm].
