Today in the CBS-FM Hall of Fame, we’re celebrating [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jim Morrison[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Doors[/lastfm]. It was forty years ago that the Lizard King passed away (on July 3rd, to be exact), so we decided that since the heat is rising, it would be the perfect time to pay tribute to Mr. Mojo Risin’ all day long!
Break on through to the other side with CBS-FM all day as we listen to the best from The Doors.
Just make sure the other side has air conditioning and, preferably, a Slurpee machine.

Jim Morrison is widely regarded as one of the most iconic and charismatic performers of all time. His wild personality and performances helped make The Doors one of the most exciting and interesting live shows to see. He roamed the stage with an air of subdued menace before launching himself recklessly into the air.
Mr. Mojo Risin’ (which was an anagram of Jim Morrison) made improv poetry a huge part of his stage act, but also published two volumes of poetry in 1969. The Lords consisted primarily of brief descriptions of places, people, events and Morrison’s thoughts on cinema, while The New Creatures conformed to a more poetic structure and feel.
Morrison passed away on July 3, 1971, while staying in Paris. He was found in his bathtub by Pamela Courson, his long-time companion. Many rumors and speculation surround the death of Jim Morrison. Pursuant to French law, no autopsy was performed because the medical examiner claimed to have found no evidence of foul play. The official coroner’s report list the cause of death to be heart failure.
Take a look at some of our favorite songs from The Doors as we honor Jim Morrison in the CBS-FM Hall of Fame. Which one is your favorite? Listen to our picks and tells us what you think!
