If Tea Party member Michele Bachmann receives the Republican nomination and is in the running during the 2012 Presidential Election, it’s safe to say [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tom Petty[/lastfm] won’t be voting for her.
Bachmann was issued a cease and desist order demanding that she stop using Petty’s song “American Girl” as her stage entrance music at political rallies.

Word of Petty’s displeasure with Bachmann’s use of “American Girl” came to light after her rally just two days ago, when NBC News confirmed Petty’s management team immediately sent the Bachmann campaign a cease and desist letter.
Appears Michele Bachmann is off to a rough start as she tries to earn the Presidential bid from the Republican Party. Between her snub from Tom and her John Wayne mix-up, things aren’t looking too good.
Bachmann is from Waterloo, Iowa, and tried to compare her “spirit” to that of your everyone’s favorite tough guy, John Wayne.
“Well what I want them to know is just like John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That’s the kind of spirit that I have, too,” Bachmann told a reporter from Fox News.
That’s great and all, but The Duke hales from Winterset, Iowa. The only John Wayne from Waterloo, Iowa is John Wayne Gacy. You know, the serial killer who dressed up like a Clown and committed the rape and murder of thirty-three teenage boys and young men during the 1970’s. He stuffed most of those bodies into the crawlspace in his house.
You’re on a roll, Michelle.
