Pack up for a road trip! (Photo by John Moore/Getty Images)
Summer is just around the corner, the weather is getting warmer, and many families will be planning road trips in the near future .
If you have young children, these long trips can be a challenege and I have found some helpful tips on surviving that road trip with the kids this summer.
- Plan the route together: Young travelers have more interest in road trips if they feel they have some control in the planning
- Make your car comfortable: Keep pillows, blankets and familiar items in the car so the children feel comfortable
- Create assignments like punching in GPS coordinates or looking out for rest stops to keep them busy
- Divide the drive into manageable segments and make plenty of pit stops
