The “Godmother of Punk,” Patti Smith, has been announced as the headliner for the Escape to New York Festival, which will be held at the Shinnecock Reservation Land in Southampton, New York on August 5-7th.

New York’s own [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Patti Smith[/lastfm] will be joined by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Psychedelic Furs[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Vaccines[/lastfm], and many others for a rockin’ weekend in Southampton during the first weekend in August. Escape to New York is an event inspired by the creator of one of the UK’s most eccentric events, The Secret Garden Party UK.

The “pop-up destination community and independent experiential music and lifestyle festival” will be more than just three days of great live music on the sunny shores of Southampton. There will be installation and performance art, experimental theater, high-end camping (or “Glamping,” as they call it), and lots of delicious food.
