Don’t worry, he won’t be crooning any pop or doo-wop. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jeff Beck[/lastfm] will appear on this Wednesday’s American Idol doing what he does best: raising goosebumps with his legendary guitar work.
This Wednesday’s episode of Idol is going to be the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame edition, where each of the nine remaining contestants will perform a song by a Rock Hall inductee.
Beck, supported by the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Imelda May Band[/lastfm], will accompany all of the contestants on guitar as they perform their song. So if any of them pick something from, say, The Yardbirds, he will have minimal rehearsing to worry about.
Finalist James Durbin, who recently expressed desire to sing some heavier stuff on the show, will likely go all out with his selection this week. Is Judas Priest or Black Sabbath for the first time in “Idol” history in the cards? Guess we have to actually tune in to find out.
