[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Elton John[/lastfm] will pull double duty on April 2 on Saturday Night Live. He’ll host and share the stage with fellow musical guest [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Leon Russell[/lastfm]. This will be Elton’s first time as host and first return to the show in nearly 30 years.

Elton last appeared on SNL back in Season 7 on April 17, 1982 as the musical guest. Johnny Cash hosted that night.   Elton performed “Empty Garden” (a tribute to John Lennon) and “Ball and Chain.”
