New wave music has a lot of heroes, including [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Echo and The Bunnymen[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Gang of Four[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Depeche Mode[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]New Order[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Morrissey[/lastfm]. But you can’t talk about ’80s new wave without mentioning the synth-pop beats of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and especially Duran Duran.

These romantic legends brought the world chart-topping hits like “Planet Earth” and “Electricity” and made the synthesizer a viable member of the band (if not the star). If you’re obsessed with the ’80s like us, then chances are you’ll be doing back-flips after you find out which other iconic new-wave bands are heading to this year’s music festival.
