Danny DeVito turns 66 today!  The diminutive actor, who got his big break in the ’70s on Taxi, has starred in dozens of films, including Ruthless People, Throw Momma From the Train, Twins, Get Shorty and L.A. Confidential. He now stars in the FX comedy series It’s Always Funny in Philadelphia. DeVito has been married to Cheers star Rhea Perlman since 1982.

Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio – She was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1987 for The Color of Money. Her other notable film appearances include Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, The Perfect Storm, Consenting Adults, The Abyss, Slam Dance and Scarface. On TV, she had a recurring role on Without a Trace in 2005 and ’06, and in 2010 joined the cast of Law and Order: Criminal Intent. (Age: 52)

Tom Seaver – Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher (Age: 66)

Danny DeVito – His only Academy Award nomination has come as one of the producers of Erin Brockovich, for which he won a Best Picture Oscar in 2001. He’s a four-time Golden Globe and four-time Emmy nominee for his role on T-V’s Taxi, winning each award once. His movies include Be Cool, The Rainmaker, L-A Confidential, Get Shorty, Hoffa, Batman Returns, The War of the Roses, Twins, Throw Momma from the Train, Ruthless People, Wise Guys and Terms of Endearment, many of which he produced and/or directed. Lorne Michaels – The TV producer is in charge of Saturday Night Live. (Age: 66)

Martin Scorsese – On his eighth Academy Award nomination, he won his first Oscar in 2007 for The Departed. His previous nominations included five for Best Director and two for Best Screenwriting for The Aviator, Gangs of New York, Goodfellas, The Last Temptation of Christ, Raging Bull and The Age of Innocence. His other major films include Taxi Driver, The Departed, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, After Hours, Mean Streets, The Last Waltz and a T-V documentary on Bob Dylan. (Age: 68)

Peter Cook – (1937 – 1995) – The English actor, comedian and writer, who was partnered with Dudley Moore on stage and film (as well as on record, as the scatalogical comedy team Derek and Clive), passed away on January 9th, 1995.

Rock Hudson (Roy Harold Scherer Junior) (1925 – 1985 ) – The perennial romantic leading man, who concealed his homosexuality nearly until the end of his life, died of an AIDS-related disease on October 2nd, 1985.
