[lastfm]Eric Clapton[/lastfm] is offering a free download of his newest single “Run Back To Your Side” on iTunes. It’s a blues rock track off his upcoming 19th solo studio album, simply titled Clapton, in stores September 28.
Clapton sings about running back to his love after admitting, “I should’ve known better / I should’ve hung around.” The track is very similar to his rendition of “Rollin’ and Tumblin” featured on 1992′s Unplugged.
Clapton is his first album in five years.
“This album wasn’t what it was intended to be at all,” Clapton says about the album’s sound, which covers relatively unknown country blues to brand-new originals. “It’s actually better than it was meant to be because, in a way, I just let it happen. It’s an eclectic collection of songs that weren’t really on the map–and I like it so much because if it’s a surprise to the fans, that’s only because it’s a surprise to me, as well.”
