[lastfm] Mike Love[/lastfm] says a conversation with [lastfm]Brian Wilson[/lastfm] while [lastfm]The Beach Boys[/lastfm] were planning their 1976 album led to their cover of “Rock and Roll Music,” which peaked in the Top 5 this week in 1976.

“We were recording an album called 15 Big Ones, and I said, ‘We ought to do another Chuck Berry song, how about ‘Rock and Roll Music?’ And we came up with an arrangement. And it was a lot of fun. The interesting thing about that song is The Beatles did ‘Rock and Roll Music.’ So did The Beach Boys. And it rocks. It says it all — ‘just let me hear some of that rock and roll music.’ It’s perfect.”
