 Food Fit For The King

Elvis Presley

In the newly published book What the Great Ate — A Curious History of Food and Fame, authors (and brothers) Matthew and Mark Jacob roll through a who’s who from [lastfm]Elvis Presley[/lastfm] to Elizabeth Taylor, presidents spanning George Washington to Ronald Reagan, and wordsmiths such as Edgar Allen Poe, George Orwell and John Steinbeck. Not surprisingly, some of Mark Jacob’s most interesting stories revolve around Elvis.

[pullquote quote="Elvis was maybe the most flamboyant eater of recent times." credit="Mark Jacobs"]Most Elvis fans already know that he LOVED his peanut butter and banana sandwiches, but not many know that Elvis had video surveillance on his kitchen staff 24/7!  It was there so that he can watch his kitchen staff from his bedroom!  He probably wanted to make sure that none of his staff took any of his peanut better or bananas!  Listen below as Mark Jacob talks about some things that many fans didn’t know about Elvis and his food!
