grace slick Grace Slick to Help with Oil Slick

[lastfm]Grace Slick [/lastfm]will appear on a recording for the first time in more than a decade. The former [lastfm]Jefferson Airplane [/lastfm]and [lastfm]Starship [/lastfm]singer is helping to raise money for Louisiana fishermen and musicians whose livelihoods are affected by the Gulf oil spill. Slick has teamed with songwriter Michelle Mangione to write “The Edge of Disaster,” and they’ve teamed with more than 20 other musicians and singers to record it.

Among those participating are Bill Medley of [lastfm]The Righteous Brothers,[/lastfm] Martha Davis of [lastfm]The Motels[/lastfm], Terri Nunn of [lastfm]Berlin[/lastfm], [lastfm]No Doubt [/lastfm]guitarist Tom Dumont and [lastfm]X[/lastfm] guitarist Billy Zoom.

Slick will debut the song tomorrow at L.A.’s Grammy Museum as part of a program that also includes an exhibition of her artwork.

“The Edge of Disaster” will be available for download at www.GrammyMuseum.org with all proceeds going to The Greater New Orleans Foundation Gulf Oil Spill Fund and the MusiCares Foundation.
