One of the biggest free concerts this summer takes place tonight, [lastfm]The Beach Boys[/lastfm] play Asser Levy/Seaside Park in Coney Island!
The “Happy Together Tour” also features [lastfm]Flo and Eddie[/lastfm] singing the hits of [lastfm]The Turtles[/lastfm], [lastfm]Mark Lindsay[/lastfm] of [lastfm]Paul Revere and the Raiders[/lastfm] and [lastfm]Mickey Dolenz[/lastfm].
Turtles lead singer Howard Kaylan says that their connections with the Beach Boys go back to their days in high school when, as [lastfm]The Crossfires[/lastfm], they opened for the Beach Boys. There were memorable shows at Pacific Ocean Park in Santa Monica, California. Kaylan credits Brian Wilson and Mike Love for encouraging them to develop their own harmony sound — which was heard in their ’60s classics.
Kaylan says, “We’re there to give everybody a real happy show and to please ourselves. We’re all here to make happy music and we’re having a happy time.“

Seaside Park is located across the street from the New York Aquarium and the show starts at 7:30.
